September in New York is a great time to visit – and beyond the glamour and glitz of NYC you’ll find excellent kiteboarding opportunities. With both flat water and open ocean waves theres something for every kiter – including a great protected shallow water bay just West of Montauk – Napeague Harbor, East Hampton, NY, USA.
That’s me coaching in Napeague at the Dream Extreme kiteboarding event, and 2015 for my 4th year joined Linda Argila in raising over $200,000 for an amazing charity – the Hour Children Foundation – and had a ton of fun doing it.
We were blessed with incredible weather: wind and sun for both days of the event!
Joining in on the fun this year was Cabarete’s darling Bianca Foranzano from Bianca Bikinis. The cooler temps were a bit of a surprise for Bianca, so remember when you’re planning your trip to kite in NY you’ll need a good wetsuit, booties, and lots of warm layers for on the beach.
One other tip for kitesurfing in NY – bring a big kite – the biggest kite you own! The wind can be very light and you’ll want to maximize your opportunities to ride. Here’s me wrestling a monster sail.
After a big day on the beach Linda organizes a glamorous dinner/silent auction/dance party in the Hamptons. This is the place to see and be seen – where the kiteboarding coaches show off how well they scrub up!
A HUGE thank you to our photographers Brian Nitto and Corey J. Coulter from 55 Productions for these awesome kiteboarding images and of course the biggest thank you to Linda for giving me a chance to join this inspirational and amazing event.
